The CPMR Islands Commission held its 32nd annual meeting in Cyprus on 5th November, in the framework of the EU Cyprus Presidency.
The next General Assembly of the CPMR Islands Commission will take plance in Sardinia on 20 and 21 June 2013, at the invitation of President Ugo Cappellacci, President of the Islands Commission, President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia.
The aims of the Islands Commission are:
To urge the European Institutions and Member States to pay special attention to the islands, to acknowledge the permanent handicaps resulting from their insularity, and to implement policies that are best suited to their condition.
To foster interregional cooperation between islands, especially on issues in direct relation with their insularity.
